UPDATE ON LEADERSHIP SHIFT IN FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TECHNICAL ISU, EBONYI STATE

Federal College of Education Technical Isu Ebonyi State is one of the Colleges of Education in the recent time in Nigeria, established to offer NCE and Degree Courses to the qualified students under President Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2020. The College took full operation in October 2021.
It was headed by Prof. Rueben Okey Okechukwu as the pioneer provost of the College. His tenure commenced on the 16th January, 2021 and elapsed on 15th March, 2026. His leadership was characterized by the following achievements.
- Infrastrural Development: Oversaw the completion of TETFund projects, resolving office accommodation issues.
- Academic Reforms: Implemented reforms in technical education, focusing on ICT training for teachers.
- Institutional Growth: Established the college, offering NCE and Degree programs, with a vision for excellence in technology and learning.
Prof. Okey Reuben Okechukwu has been advocating for reforms in technical education, focusing on intensive ICT training for teachers. He emphasized this during a National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) conference themed "Capacity Building of 650 Teachers Educators on the Use of ICT for Teaching and Learning (E-Learning)".
Additional key updates on his achievements include:
- ICT Training for Teachers: The conference aimed to equip 650 teachers with ICT skills, enhancing teaching and learning experiences.
- Expansion of Programme: The programme is being extended to 13 more Colleges of Education, with 50 additional academic staff participating.
- Call for Reforms: He stressed on the need for comprehensive reforms in technical education, emphasizing on ICT skills for teachers.
- Human Capital Development : He put much efforts in human capital development thereby built capacities on human resources of the college both academics and non-academic personnel.

A significant leadership twist occurred after the tenure expiration of the pioneer Principal Officers on 15th March, 2026 which ushered in the 2nd Principal Officers of the College officially on the 16th of March 2026.
